A New Addition to the Bronovo Hospital Art Collection

5 November 2025, The Hague

Over the past three months, some of my paintings were on display at Bronovo Hospital as part of their art exhibition programme. It was a joy to see my work in a place where so many people pass through — patients, visitors, and hospital staff — and to know that art can offer a moment of colour, calm or encouragement in their day.

After the exhibition, the hospital’s art committee selected one artwork to purchase, choosing from the various artists who took part. I was very happy to hear that they decided to acquire one of my paintings for their collection.

Bringing a little happiness into someone’s day is exactly why I paint — and knowing that this piece may do so at Bronovo makes me very glad.

Honoured to Bring Art to the Wassenaar Hospice

17 September 2025, Wassenaar

This year, the hospice in Wassenaar celebrates its 20th anniversary, and I was honoured to be invited by the volunteers to create a painting for this special moment. From the very beginning, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for their trust — it was meaningful to contribute to a place where care, presence and compassion are so central.

The volunteers shared a few symbols they wished to see reflected in the work. These became the heart of the painting: the soft, swaying reeds symbolise the volunteers and the gentle, flexible way in which they support guests and their loved ones during a difficult time; a reed warbler adds a light, uplifting note; and a formation of geese in flight represents the care and support we offer each other along the way.

I chose the warm glow of an evening sun as the backdrop — a quiet moment at the end of the day, filled with warmth, reflection and a sense of peace. The colours are soft, warm and comforting, echoing the atmosphere of care within the hospice.

It was a privilege to create this piece, and I am truly touched that the volunteers chose me for such a meaningful commission. The painting has now been given a central place in the hospice, and I hope it brings a little light, comfort and colour to those who pass by.
