Refund policy
This Return & Refund Policy applies to all purchases made through LinJans Art.
By placing an order, you agree to the terms outlined below. This policy complies with EU and Dutch consumer protection law and applies to all customers located within the European Union.
1. Order Cancellations (Before Shipment)
If you wish to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible at contact@linjans-art.com. Our products follow a processing, production, and shipping timeline. These timelines are explained in our Packaging & Delivery Policy and apply to print orders only. Timelines for original or commissioned artworks may differ.
- Art Prints - As prints are made to order, cancellations are only possible if your order has not yet been processed and production has not started. Processing may begin shortly after your order is placed, so please contact us immediately if you wish to cancel.
- Original Paintings - Orders may be cancelled free of charge before shipment.
- Commissioned Artworks - Cancellations are possible until materials have been purchased or work has started. Once materials have been purchased and/or work has begun, the commission can no longer be cancelled due to the personalised nature of the artwork. One revision is included in the commission process. If the client chooses to stop the process after the included revision, only the material cost (canvas + paint) will be invoiced. No labour or creative time will be invoiced.
2. Right of Return (Withdrawal)
As an EU consumer, you have the legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days, starting from the day after you (or a person nominated by you, other than the carrier) receive physical possession of the goods.
The start of this 14-day withdrawal period depends on your order type:
- Single item: the day after you receive the item
- Multiple items delivered separately: the day after you receive the last item.
- One item delivered in several parts or lots: the day after you receive the final part or lot.
You do not need to provide a reason for withdrawing.
To exercise this right:
- Notify us within the 14-day period at contact@linjans-art.com stating that you wish to withdraw from the purchase. Providing a reason is optional.
- After notifying us of your withdrawal, you must send back the item(s) without undue delay and in any event within 14 days starting from the day after you sent us your withdrawal notice.
- We kindly ask you to contact us before shipping your return, so we can provide the correct return address and packaging instructions. This step helps ensure safe and timely processing of your refund but is not a legal requirement for the validity of your withdrawal.
3. Eligible Products for Return
Original Paintings
Original artworks purchased through LinJans Art or via direct contact are eligible for return within the 14-day withdrawal period.
- The artwork must be returned in its original condition and securely packaged.
- You may carefully unpack the artwork to inspect it, as you would in a physical gallery. Any damage or signs of use beyond what is necessary for inspection may result in a deduction from your refund.
Art Prints
Prints may be returned within 14 days of delivery, after notifying us and receiving return instructions.

Prints must be returned in their original condition and packaging, or in packaging of equal protective quality.
Commissioned / Custom Works
Commissioned or customised artworks are not eligible for a (full) return or refund, as they are made to your specifications. This exception is recognised under EU Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c).
One revision is included in the commission process. If after the revision the client still chooses not to proceed, only the material cost (canvas + paint) will be charged. No labour or creative time will be invoiced.
We do not offer direct exchanges. If you would like a different item, please request a return and place a new order.
4. Return Shipping Costs
- Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, the customer bears the cost of returning the goods, provided we clearly informed you of this obligation before you placed your order (as stated here).
- If the item arrived damaged or incorrect, we will bear all return and replacement shipping costs.
- We strongly recommend using tracked shipping. Returns lost in transit without proof of postage or tracking cannot be refunded.
5. Refunds
Refunds are issued once we receive and inspect the returned item. Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method.
- Refunds will be made no later than 14 days from the date you informed us of your withdrawal.
- We may wait to process the refund until we have received the returned goods or until you provide proof of return—whichever occurs first.
- Your refund will include:
- the product price, and
- the standard outbound shipping cost you originally paid (if any).
- Additional or express delivery fees you chose will not be refunded.
- If your order qualified for free shipping (€100 +), no shipping fee was charged and therefore no shipping fee will be included in the refund.
- Refunds can only be issued to the original payment method
6. Condition of Returned Items
Items must be returned unused and in the same condition as received.
If an item is returned with wear, damage, or missing parts for reasons not due to our error, a deduction may be applied to reflect the loss in value.
If an item is returned without a stated reason and is found to be damaged upon receipt, we will first determine whether the damage occurred during transit or after delivery to you.
- If the damage occurred before or during delivery, the return will be treated under your statutory warranty rights, and you will receive a full refund.
- If the damage occurred after delivery and goes beyond what is necessary to inspect the item, a reasonable deduction may be applied to reflect the loss in value.
7. Damaged or Incorrect Items
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please notify us as soon as possible (preferably within 48 hours) and include:
- clear photos of the product,
- clear photos of the packaging and shipping label,
- your order number, and a brief description of the issue.
We may reasonably request clear photos or information to help assess the issue and determine whether it falls under warranty or transport damage.
For damaged or incorrect items returned under warranty, LinJans Art bears the cost and risk of return shipping.
Once approved, we will offer either a replacement or a full refund, including all shipping costs. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
8. Unclaimed or Undeliverable Parcels
If a parcel is returned to us because it was not collected, refused, or the address provided was incorrect:
- We can reship the order once it is returned; new shipping costs will apply.
- If you prefer a refund instead of reshipment, the refund will include the product price minus:
- the original outbound shipping cost (if any), and
- the return shipping fees charged by the carrier.
Original Artworks returned as unclaimed or undeliverable will be handled as a standard return under this policy.
Commissioned Artworks returned as unclaimed or undeliverable cannot be refunded.
If the client no longer wishes to receive the artwork, only the material cost (canvas + paint) will be invoiced.
9. How to Start a Return
To request a return, email contact@linjans-art.com with:
- Your order number
- The item you wish to return
- Optional for Right-of-Withdrawal returns: A brief reason for returning

We aim to handle returns smoothly and transparently and will guide you through the process from start to finish.
EU Model Withdrawal Form
If you wish to withdraw from your purchase under the EU 14-day right of withdrawal, you may use this standard form. Filling in this form is optional — a clear email to contact@linjans-art.com is equally valid.
